Digital Collage Based on a Theme

The theme of my collage is cat love. These are images of cats that love each other and I believe that animal love is one of the purest things on earth. Many of these images are how I see my boyfriend and myself. Seeing cat couples always make me so happy that’s why I chose to do my collage on them.

David Hockney “Joiners”

This is one of my favorite joiners from David because it gives you the sense of distortion. It looks exactly like what it feels to zone out and “time skip” and have your memories all jumbled up. The way he places the pictures out of place tells a story and gives a whole new meaning to the picture. For David to get this effect he just continuously snapped pictures and then came up with this joiner that was a pretty good execution.

Where I See Myself In 10 Years

The background I chose for this is a picture I took myself at Rockaway Beach. I love the beach and I hope to be frequently visiting the beach in 10 years. I love the beach because it’s so calming and therapeutic. It feels as if the waves can take your stress and worries away. One of my favorite things I did at this beach in particular was pick up a lot of rocks and crystals because they were so beautiful and I had necklaces out of them. I put a cat walking along the beach because I hope to still have my cat in 10 years or another brown cat. Although I added my house on the beach, I don’t think I’d see myself owning a house on the beach in 10 years. If I would have a beach house it would probably only be for the summer. Beach houses are expensive so that’s something I’d buy a in 20+ years. In 10 years I’d like to live in 4 bedroom house with a nice backyard for my future children to play in.

In 10 years I would like to have been starting my family with my husband. I want to have 2-3 babies with small age gaps between them, so that they all grow up together. I was 11 and 9 years younger than my siblings, so I felt like an only child at time because I grew up with myself since my siblings were already grown up and I don’t want that to happen to my kids. The small picture in the middle of parents swinging their child is the type of happy family I strive to have. I added a pregnant woman because I can’t wait to be a mother because motherhood seems so special and rewarding. I know raising babies is very hard but it’s the special bond that you form with a child that you birthed is indescribable. I love babies and kids so I can’t wait to have my own and be a mother someday.

In order to fulfill my dream house, raising kids, a cat, and beach trips I’m going to need a lot of money to help me. In 10 years I’ll be a forensic psychologist helping support my family. I have a passion to work as a forensic psychologist because I want to study why people commit the crimes they do and also testify in courtrooms. They are also a peart of divorce cases and who should have custody of the children.

Keith Haring Inspired Work

This is one of my favorite pieces by Keith because the way I see it it looks like two parents holding up a child with some sort of praise. What I like about his work is that they’re all up to your own interpretation and I believe that he doesn’t place a certain gender on a figure. This is a piece that can apply to just about anybody because there are no exact roles attached to it. It also reminds me of the lion king when they’re lifting Simba up. I also like that he uses colors of the rainbow so it can apply to any race and his art is very inclusive.

Ted Talk Reflection

The Ted Talk consisted of a man named Erik Johansson talking about how he loves photography. He got his first digital camera at 15 and it mixed with his passion for drawing. His pictures are called impossible photos because they cannot be captured with a digital camera. They are composed with multiple pictures put together to make one seamlessly impossible picture. In one of his pictures he is seen to be dragging the road behind him with his hands. The original images was a picture of the road and the another picture of him in an empty grass field pulling a green blanket. He morphed them together to make the impossible picture. The most important thing in making these pictures is making them seamless. They need to be taken in similar looking areas so they matchup seamlessly.

I think the key part that makes these photos come to life is the photoshop process. A lot of editing goes into creating these pictures. You have to color match areas and cut and paste and so many other things to create an image. One of Erik’s images of a fish looked so surreal, but it was not.  He said it had 100 to 200 layers.

I liked Johansson’s work because it’s unique. I enjoyed hearing about his thought process that went into making his photos. He talked about how the lighting of the pictures have to match or else it’s hard to work with.

Sandy Skoglund

Sandy Skoglund: “I think of Food as a universal language” - The Eye of Photography Magazine

This is my favorite image of Sandy’s. Sandy’s art is so unique and aesthetically pleasing. Her ability to only use few colors to express herself is amazing. I feel like her art differs from everyone else’s because her sets are all mostly one color and she brings in these contrasting colors to make the image pop. I believe she dedicates enormous amounts of her time to perfect her images.

Indeed Job Search

Photographer – Newborns, Toddlers & Families (San Bernardino, CA 92376)

Unfortunately, I don’t qualify for this job in a month because I don’t have my California Drivers License that is the half of the requirement. I also do not have one year experience photographing babies so they will not likely hire me due to my lack of experience. That would be on the only thing I need to get this job I’m interested in.

DSLR Camera and Lens Facts

  1. DSLR stands for Digital Single Lens Reflex
  2. There is a mirror system inside that let’s you preview how the photo looks through the viewfinder.

  4. There are 3 types of lenses prime, zoom, and kit.
  5. Prime lens have only one focal length.
  6. The zoom lens has variable focal lengths.
  7. The kit lens is the basic lens that comes with the camera.
  8. A focal length of 300 mm is more zoomed in and close rather than a length of 70mm.
  9. A lens focal length less than 21 mm is an extremely wide angle and it’s typically used for architecture photography.
  10. A lens focal length of 21-35 mm is a wide angle and it’s typically used for landscape photography.
  11. A lens focal length of 35-70 mm is a normal angle and it’s typically used for street and documentary photography.

  13. A lens focal length of 135-300+ mm is a telephoto and it’s typically used for sports, bird, & wildlife photography.
  14. When choosing the correct ISO for your shooting you have to remember that when there is more avalible light you need a lower ISO.
  15. When you’re shooting in a place with less light avalible you need a higher ISO.
  16. Use the lowest ISO you can to avoid grain/noise.
  17. Shutter speed determines how long the shutter is open.
  18. Use higher shutter speed to capture fast action.
  19. Tripods are good for still photography.
  20. Aperture is also known as the f-stop.
  21. Aperture is the focal length divided by the lens diameter.
  22. A lens is is defined by the mount, zoom, series, focal length(s), and maximum aperture.
  23. The white balance is the setting that adjusts how colors look.
  24. Setting the correct white balance setting tells the camera how to make your whites and grays neutral, without any color tint.
  25. There are modes on the camera for dummies that will set the camera modes itself so you don’t have to do anything.

Social Issue Poster

I feel this way about the bans that were put on women’s bodies because I believe that it should be up to the women or child that is carrying the embryo to decide what they want to do. The government shouldn’t have any say in these women’s lives that they won’t even help out in if they decide to carry out the pregnancy’s. I think reading articles about abortion and how abortions can save women’s lives have helped me form this decision. The flip side of this issue is not allowing women or children to have abortions even if they were raped. The other side usually advocates for the embryos ‘life’ and they want to give them a chance at life but totally disregard the mother’s life. I do see the other side but I still don’t agree with it. This poster isn’t necessarily supposed to offend anyone but if they take offense to it then so be it. I believe my poster does get my point across.

Read and Write

I would like to be a photographer because it’s the new thing. Everyone wants to own a good camera and be able to use it like a professional. Also, the need for photographers is in high demand. You can also be your own boss and even be the CEO of your own photo company. There are also benefits for you being your own boss and that its that you put your own schedule together and you don’t have to be too overwhelmed. The career is also very versatile and there are so many different ways you can be valuable to people.

Shallow Depth of Field

Image Projection

Flipped Image

Bear Triptych

  1. Aperture is the hole in the lens that controls how much light travels through it. Shutter speed controls how long the light enters the camera. The ISO darkens or lightens the photo.
  2. You would need to change your ISO to make photos lighter when shooting in a dark place and vice versa when shooting in a bright place.
  3. Aperture priority lets you control the depth of field, but the camera will control the exposure settings. Similar to aperture priority, shutter priority controls the exposure settings, but you control the shutter speed. \
  4. The autofocus modes are one-shot AF, servo AF, and AI autofocus. To keep the one-shot AF mode focused you must hold your finger on the shutter release half pressed. Unlike one-shot mode servo AF will not lock at all it will keep on refocusing. Lastly, AI focus will automatically from one -shot to servo if it detects movement in the frame.
  5. It is important to meter the light to get the right exposure because it measures the amount of light that falls onto the subject or that is reflected by it.
  6. White balance is used to adjust colors to match the color of the might source so that white objects appear white. You would need to change it when taking pictures of bright white objects such as a wedding dress because the dress could end up coming out blue if you don’t.
  7. Depth of field is the zone within a photo that appears sharp and in focus. A shallow depth of field is more focused, and a good depth of field is more focused.
  8. There are 3 drive modes single shot, continuous low, and continuous high. Single shot shoots one frame at a time. CL is great for portraits when you have an expressive model and don’t want to miss any interesting faces. CH is the shooting mode for sports, wildlife and anything that moves fast. Metering modes control the amount of light that falls onto your subject.
  9. Exposure compensation is a +/- scale that will tell your camera to increase or decrease exposure, depending on your needs.
